Project Details
Whatcom Community College’s proposed new Learning Commons will focus on supporting the growing demand for collaborative student learning that takes place outside of the traditional classroom. The project will be the new hub for student centered learning and the centerpiece of the institution’s strategic commitment to e-learning.
This new 69,000 square foot facility will combine the full resources of the library with academic support services and provide student access to instructional technology, collaborative learning areas, and individual study spaces that respond to demand of the modern student centered learning experience. New program area needs include Tutoring, Math Center, Writing Center, Library, Student Testing, Career Resource Center, Student Copy and Print Services, e-Learning Resource Center, e-Learning Student Needs, Student Support Services and Student Work Showcase Space.
Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen completed a State of Washington Capital Request Report for Whatcom Community College’s new proposed New Learning Commons in 2007. The report included existing campus master planning study, site selection, program area calculations, preliminary organization concept diagrams, State of Washington cost estimate forms, and Executive Summary development.
