Project Details
With dramatic views of the waterfront and garden outside, taking advantage of the visual splendor was a primary focus of this 3,000-square-foot residence. Large windows and sliding glass doors let the outside in and help to brighten the space on gray Pacific Northwest days. Adding to the ample natural light admitted through the glazed end-wall is an illuminated gallery, which runs along the spine of the unit and connects the various parts. Lighting in the gallery is indirect, designed to give the feeling of infinite space. Materials are simple (woods are unstained) to reinforce the purity of the equally simple spaces
