Project Details
The clients wanted a house that provided the feel, scale and elegance of an Italian villa. Sited on the crest of a knoll overlooking the Yakima Valley, the building is curved to wrap the top of the knoll and follow the path of the sun. Internally, selected spaces are designed to extend into the landscape, and innovative ceiling planes are used to suggest infinite space. A living room rug designed by Jim Olson, metaphorically tells the story of the valley and how the sun, moon, water and earth work together to create and nourish the landscape.
