Project Details
This LEED-CI Gold registered renovation of a 1922 former industrial warehouse in South Seattle will serve as a new auto sale and service facility for Stadium Nissan of Seattle, and feature Nissan’s new electric car, the Leaf. The space includes an auto-showroom, retail area, service and waiting areas, service bays and back of house.
The design minimized alterations to the building envelop and focused on an interior design that maximizes efficiency while establishing an aesthetic in line with the owner’s vision and sustainability goals. Materials from the original space were reused, including interior wood siding, existing fire doors, and furniture from the previous dealership. A steel-clad “box” contains office and administrative functions. Finish materials are left raw, including wood, steel and concrete. Energy-efficient lighting and heating systems are used, and the space is ventilated with oversize fans and overhead doors that fully open the space to the street.
