Project Details

The Sun Valley Center for the Arts’ relocation to Ketchum, Idaho, will provide an opportunity to expand its mission—to provoke and stimulate the imagination while opening hearts and minds through excellence in arts programming. The project is a highly transparent space designed to accommodate a multitude of uses. In addition to exhibit spaces, the 43,000 square foot facility will include an auditorium, classrooms, and art project areas as well as underground parking.

Inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy, the architect made the ability of artists and curators to morph the space an integral part of this project, blurring the line between architecture and art. Green strategies are crucial in the high desert landscape, and the building protects its users from the elements, while harvesting energy and resources from the sun, rain and snow. LEED certification will be sought for this project.
