Project Details
This project was inserted into what was the West Coast distribution center for Sears and Roebuck (circa1920’s), and is now headquarters for the Starbucks Coffee Company. Custom prefabricated fixtures were installed after the decorative surfaces of a later addition had been removed. A plywood wing was suspended from one of the concrete columns; and a security desk, assembled from a standard, concrete utility vault, anchored a cantilevered sheet of plate steel. Exterior signage emerged from inside the lobby and wrapped up the outside of the building. Interrupting the lobby, the wing forces visitors to pause for security before entering the building.
