Project Details

In the last 400 years, The Anping Harbor evolved from a natural lagoon and barrier islands into a fishing harbor and working port. Its community changed from indigenous inhabitants to pioneer immigrants and now urban residents. The main concept of the project was to engage in the continuing transformation of these spaces to create a dynamic waterfront environment. This project specifically focused on the following markers as icons: new art museum and ship building sheds, reclaimed land, Eternal Golden Castle, Destroyer Deyang, the Farm, and the Park itself. Rather than simply obliterated or preserved, each of these markers would undergo a transformation in terms of its functions and meanings that respond to the needs and identity of a new urban waterfront and public space. Our firm teamed with Charles Anderson Landscape Architects for this competition.
