Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects announces the departure of Scott Allen, Managing Principal

SEATTLE (March 2, 2009) – Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects (OSKA) announces the departure of principal Scott Allen, AIA, after more than 23 years with the firm, the last 15 as managing partner.

“Scott’s contributions to the growth and success of Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects have been outstanding,” says Jim Olson, founding principal. “His leadership and management skills have been instrumental to the firm’s success, including its most recent recognition, the American Institute of Architects’ 2009 National AIA Architecture Firm Award—the highest honor the AIA can bestow upon an architectural office. Scott will be greatly missed and we wish him well.”
In addition to the 2009 National AIA Architecture Firm Award, Allen’s work has been recognized by the Seattle Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Northwest Design Awards program, and the Masonry Institute of Washington. Allen’s work has also been featured in several publications. During Allen’s tenure at OSKA, the firm grew from 11 full-time employees to its current size of approximately 85, which now includes an interior design studio as well as an internationally-recognized intern program.

“It has been a terrific experience helping to build a practice that is capable of doing great architecture and that has an internal culture that nurtures talent and celebrates experimentation,” says Allen. “At the same time, I am excited about putting my management hat aside to start something new and innovative. There is a sea change in thinking about the built environment and how architects work, and my new practice will be part of that new paradigm.”
